These terms cover how this website and our screenings work. They are written in plain English because we want you to read them.

About us

Galway Film Society (GFS) is a voluntary, not-for-profit film society based in Galway, Ireland. We programme arthouse and international cinema screenings at venues in Galway city and county. We are not a registered company; we are a committee, and our liability is therefore limited as set out below.

Using this website

You can use this site to read about our programme, subscribe to our newsletter, and find a link to buy tickets. We try to keep everything accurate, but film schedules can change at short notice and details may be updated or corrected. The most recent version of any page is always the authoritative one.

Tickets and screenings

• Tickets are sold through Tickettailor. Your purchase contract is with Tickettailor (acting for us), and their terms apply to the payment itself.
• Tickets are non-refundable except where a screening is cancelled by us. In that case we will refund the ticket price in full within 14 days.
• We reserve the right to refuse admission to disruptive behaviour, in line with the policies of our host venues.
• Age ratings shown on our pages follow the IFCO classification. Where a film is rated 15A or 16, we will not knowingly admit anyone under that age unaccompanied by a guardian.

When you subscribe to GFS Insights you are agreeing to receive our monthly newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email, or by writing to us.

Intellectual property

The Galway Film Society name, the “GFS” wordmark, and the film-reel mark are the property of Galway Film Society. Film stills, posters, and trailers shown on this site are reproduced under fair-dealing provisions for review and promotion, and remain the property of their respective rights holders.

Limitation of liability

Because we are a voluntary committee, our liability for any loss arising from the use of this website or attendance at our screenings is limited to the value of the ticket purchased (or, where no ticket was purchased, to €1). Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited under Irish law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
